Mid Century Cadillac Discussion / Re: 1955 Distributor Vacuum Controller

Terrill Machine turned it around in ~3 weeks.  When I called to get an ETA on my 1955 vacuum advance, they said “Is this Art Gardner?”

They asked because they knew; it is called Caller ID.

If I had $242k to drop, it wouldn't be on just one Biarritz.

Could get a fantastic example of a 61 and a 62 and have money left over for something else that caught my eye for that cash outlay.  The car Eric posted was good value for the money in my opinion.  You couldn't duplicate that car at any cost.

So true.

Installed it today, and reinstalled the distributor.  After setting timing, she runs great!  Hopefully she’ll make it to Reno under her own power for Hot August Nights.  Now, onto repairing the AC so my wife will go with me.

Agreed the selling price is baffling to say the least.

At less than 1/3 the money just 3 years ago, the selling price of the Biarritz is difficult to justify from a purely analytical standpoint. An original 16,000 mile car, it's far more desirable than any restoration can hope to be.

Almost anything can happen at an auction as we all know. As far as establishing a benchmark for all 61/62 Biarritz - that's another matter altogether...

It would be interesting to see what this Sothebys auction 62 Series convertible would have sold for if it had been a Eldorado Biarritz convertible instead.

Thank you everyone for your replies.  I was pretty sure mine was correct and knew you guys would be able to confirm.  I will leave it as is and hope I don't get points taken off next time it is judged for being incorrect when it is correct.
