Title: Crank spacer
Post by: Nagogx on November 27, 2017, 07:46:33 PM
Hi all. Does anyone have a photo of one? Think mine might be missing. What effect would it have on the engine/trans if it wasn't installed? Thanks

Excellent thank you! Do you know if it would affect the running gear if it were missing?

I am not sure.  I am sure it closes up some thrust from the engine to trans.  But I have heard of people running without them.

I have heard people running into vibration issues with out these installed
probably controls the end thrust of the Taurus housing
it is there for a reason, and easily lost of you don't know it is there

I found mine at the very last minute when I attached the tranny to the engine. It typically comes back in a box of stuff from the guy who rebuilds the engine.

Crankshaft to Flywheel disc spacer dimensions:

Diameter - 1.613"
Thickness - 0.182"
Center hole - 0.125" with chamfer (looks like a center drill for fast production)
Edges chamfered both sides - 0.075" across the flats

Gidday Steve. Same, haven't been here in ages either. I still had the Caddy until today actually. It was loaded onto a truck and off to an auto restoration shop. The new owner has more energy and money to put into it than me. He's a friend so I'll still get to cruise in and drive it once it's on the road.

Nice to know your friend is continuing the restoration.
Didn't your car have a 63 390?

Yes, the car was getting nowhere with me. He's a panelbeater too so that should help. It does have a 63 engine. I might have a few spares if you are interested.
