The San Francisco Embarcadero Freeway opening in 1959 with a series 75 leading the way.
Eldorado fins, whitewalls and skirts
Rides just like a little bit of heaven here on earth
Well buddy when I die throw my body in the back
And drive me to the junkyard in my Cadillac

I'm wondering why the white walls from this car are so thin...Even in 1957 they were larger.

Agreed. Odd to see the car with skinny whites but the picture is definitely before 1958 and most likely taken in late 1956 because she won the crown in Sept. 1956 and these pictures were taken in her home town when they had a parade in her honor.

Miss America 1957, the 30th Miss America pageant, was held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 8, 1956, on ABC. Forty million television viewers watched Marian McKnight, of Manning, South Carolina become Miss America 1957. She imitated Marilyn Monroe in the talent competition. Upon her victory, her town of 2,775 people went into action. All entrances and exits to the town were blocked by the Fire Department. All travelers were stopped, served refreshments and invited to join in the celebration.

Got to agree with Lou about the date, it is definately no later than 57 just from the clothes and hairstyles in the photos. I reckon 56 is favourite as a 2 year old car for Miss America 1957 might not have been good enough ! Phil

the old pic is of my dad taken fall in 66 with his 62  caddy and his 64 bsa

I took the pic of me and my red 62 in 2006 with my current bike of the time ,a yamaha virago 1100

I still have his  bsa  and live in the same house pic was taken from and will get a picture with the same bike in the pic posed with my caddy.
it took me a couple hours to set up the picture to line up my car to the same driveway seam and street light post as per original picture.
the cars visible on the street ,78 ford bronco and 78 Austin mini , are mine also,by the time I set up the pic all the current model yr cars that would date the picture  had driven off .

note the ford vans on the street!
the new picture is my 2000 ford work van, which just happens to match colouring  the 60's ford van in the original  picture

That is a lot of effort for the shot.
