parking light lenses on 61 Eldorado amber or clear
« on: November 05, 2017, 11:25:40 PM »
My 61 biarritz has amber parking light lenses and I'm thinking that they should be clear.  I believe that 62's were amber.  Can someone clear that up for me?
Thanks,

61 and 62 styles differed and both were clear.  I've never seen an amber parking light lens in this era.  I wonder how they did it.

Dan is correct ,,Cadillac never made amber lenses for there cars. At one time there was a use of amber bulbs .I believe that was in the late 60s

Clear lens for sure...I thought you were asking about the bulb...
McVeys has repop that are very nice for about $100...I've also seen a few on ebay lately.

A little more on those parking light lenses...one source mentioned to me today that amber covers were on the export cars as were the different speedometer faces.  Anyway, I may have found some clear (white) ones today.
Thanks again,
Ken

Peter,
Thanks so much for the kind offer.  Gotta' love our Cadillac Community.  I'd love to have that lens and would gladly reimburse you for your efforts.  I'm trying to get this car as correct as possible before Grand Nationals in June.  It's in Texas and I hope you can make it. We are the host chapter. We have a very large Czech community here.
Dekuji!

Hi Ken,
Do you have a copy of your build sheet that you would be willing to send to me? I am the primary author of the class 19 Authenticity Manual, and one of the things I added was a statistical breakdown of the models, colors, and options from the cars listed on the build sheets that members have shared with me. So far it includes about 200 1961 and 120 1962 cars. The additional 30 listed on each sheet wil enhance the statistical breakdown.

If you send me a copy of the sheet, I will add the information, and send you the overall statistics.

This offer goes for anyone who wil provide a copy of their build sheets. Those of you who have a class 19 authenticity Manual can attest to the information it includes.

BTW, My '61 Coupe de Ville was special ordered with #98 Topaz, and green de Ville interior, so Topaz is near to my heart!

Thanks,
   Jim
