It really depends what time of year you visit. There are cities that are great to visit year-round.
Places like NYC, Miami, Nashville, DC, Seattle, SF, LA are all great any time of year.

To be honest, most other places are fairly boring unless you are going for a specific reason or event.

I would say NYC SF Seattle and DC should be top of your list.

If you are interested in Native American events, you would be best off making a slight detour to Arizona. There are a number of reservations there that have events open to the public at certain times.
