You know. I think you can estimate the budget of a movie based on the cars that are in it. A low budget period movie will have pristine cars. Like someone just polished all of them.

A big budget movie will have true cars. Road dirt bumps and scratches.

Most likely because the low budget movie begged for cars they can use for free. And there are plenty of guys who would jump at the chance to have his car in a movie.

While big budget movies get their cars from rental houses who maintain them like regular cars.

The only movie I know of that features a 1950 Cadillac Series 6169 is The Prowler staring Van Heflin and Evelyn Keyes.  It's a black and white movie, came out in 1951, and has some good action scenes with the Cadillac.  The story line is not so hot though.  You can get it through Turner Classic Movies.

My favorite 1950s Cadillac clip is Don Corleone's funeral scene from The Godfather, (the first movie). Being a lover of Professional cars explains why. You see a fleet of rare mid century Cadillac Flower Cars (with apparently one convertible as they also were used to carry flowers), plus a 1956 Series 75 chauffeur driven beauty. There was also an older Packard hearse (which looked out of place in my opinion). The Godfather films in general are probably the best for old car guys especially for lovers of caddies including shots of pre-1950s Cadillacs as well. The sequel, Godfather II is also noteworthy as I recall there being a 1956 Derham bodied Limo in at least one of the scenes. That is something you rarely see, anywhere. Clay/Lexi

I still like the hearse scene from Harold and Maude. That old lady sips that thing around the cemetery.
