Anybody know what the length is of the 1956 Cadillac negative braided metal battery strap? Much thanks. Clay/Lex

Don't know the exact length but on my 54 it goes from the battery to the starter then on to the frame even though the starter bolt goes through the braid to the frame. Phil

Clay,

Same reply as the one you post at the CLC.

According to the MPL is list them as 27" or 26 1/2" if you use the standard 3EE battery if you go with the higher CCA 3EH you need about 2" - 3" more to reach the terminal.

Jose as always, thanks again buddy! I hope to pick up an NOS one and just want it to reach. Phil, my '56 has the flat braided cable running to the frame THEN to the starter motor where it ends. The frame connection is also in a slightly different location then where it is on other Caddies that year (possibly because mine is a Series 75). Your strap location is interesting but must confess, I have not worked on a '54 model. Then there was the dialogue over whether the strap ended at the starter motor OR the engine block! Mine probably is like that also, I wrote that from memory and that fails me at times!!
