1955 Wheels/Rims Color
« on: March 26, 2018, 08:26:31 AM »
 Hello All,
I bought some wheels/rims for my 55 Cadillac are they suppose to be painted gloss or satin black for judging purposes?
Thanks,

Hi Bob,

Red or gray were the options for my '54, according to the color chart. Not sure about '55.  Victory Red is a close match, not sure about the correct gray color match.

Looked at the paint codes and with my car being code 54 the wheels should be black what I didnít know was it gloss or satin. I went on line and searched the Ditzler paint code 9200 which I got from the Master Parts book. What I found was this code was used on many cars and manufactures even Packards. This paint code was used for the bodies of the car not just wheels and there were pictures of the cars. So Iím 99% sure itís gloss black.

I've restored about a half dozen 55's and used gloss paint on the wheels.  I never had point deductions at nationals and gloss makes sense as it holds up better.
