Carl's 61 Fleetwood Background
« on: November 18, 2015, 09:43:09 PM »
Hello All,

My name is Carl Crittenden, I am the proud owner of a 61 Fleetwood named Phyllis.  In all honesty I wanted a Buick.  Being from Flint most of my family worked at Buick City.  I thought a mid 50s Buick would be great.  But while searching on Craigslist one day I came across this Cadillac and fell in love.

The cleaned picture are a little misleading.  It was wet and far away.

The interior smelled god awful.  It took two months to air out after I upholstery cleaned everything.

The motor was seized so i had to pull it and the trans together.  I unbolted the pistons from the crank so that i could rotate it and remove the trans.

It took several tries to sandblast.  The weather did not cooperate.

I still have not been able to purchase a good welder.  I found Classic 2 Current fabricators in Redford Michigan.  I am going to have them repair everything I can load in a truck and take to them.

I found a trans shop I think I can trust.  For fun I sandblasted and painted mine for now.  I know it will be scratched up during rebuild but I can fix it up latter.
