Further to my previous post today, I took notes from an old email I got from Lou (Southpaw) the administrator of this site. He noted that the '54 and '55 hold downs were of the spring variety, (I assume the same style-no change), with the '56 being different, then a change made for '57 (change not specified). Pretty sure I got at least one spring type here for '54 - '55 & will follow up with PM. Clay/Lexi

I checked 2 Cadillac Master Parts Lists and believe I found the spring noted in the above posts. Both the 1956 and the 1961 lists show the spring as part number 146 1193 as being good for both 1954 and 1955. Lou was correct in the 1956 was stand alone, and then 1957 & 1958 was another part number. See pic below I had on file, bottom of page. Open the image to read, as it then opens in in the correct vertical mode. Clay/Lexi

Does anyone have a picture they could post of the 1956 "one year only"hold down spring?

It appears from this discussion I have the wrong spring for my 56 Biarritz.

I've attached a photo of the one I have.

Hi John,

The spring you have is from a 54-55 Cadillac. Here is a picture of the one you need.
