My actual car restoration project
« on: June 20, 2017, 08:16:47 PM »
Hi all,

I have buy a 1962 Cadillac, and i have start a full restoration on it..

If some of you are interested to see this project i regulary post picture of the car on my website: www.cadillac1962.com

Yes i know the site is in french ( i live in the north of Quebec province in Canada).. But with the picture, many people can understand what i'm doing :)

What i have done until now:
At first the car was black with white top, and the engine was very ugly: the last owner have painted everything with a lot of different spray can!

So what i have done until now: change brake line, change gas tank, chage brake master cylinder, i have remove all chrome, the car was totaly sandblasted.. after that i have start repairing the body, and last weekend i have repainted the top...

Thats where i am now :)

:) I'm actually working on the body i still have some repair to do on it.. then i will paint the bottom of the car, probably in two weeks or so.

Hope you like it!

Painting in the garage with the wood rack in the background would scare me.  But I am paranoid. Great work though and Happy to see it.

I have just drive it 2 or 3 time before the restoration, then i started the work on it.

The reason why try it on the road, was to see if there is thing that need to be repaired, so i found that the suspension was not good, it has special "air suspension" at the back (you know the kind of suspention that you can adjust by putting air in it) this thing need to be changed...

And i have found some other minor problem..

This car have just 50 k Miles on it, so there is not a lot of work to do on the mechanic part.
