Title: Sad Old '62...
Post by: Dan Rush on February 25, 2018, 11:55:19 PM
Yesterday I drove from Las Vegas down to Arizona to meet a friend for lunch. Between the Hoover Dam and Kingman I saw this poor old sedan and stopped to take some quick pictures. The place looked like "The Hills Have Eyes", so I didn't seek out anyone to ask if it was for sale.

I saw the same car when i was on my US road trip.
That was in July last year and it is still sitting in exactly the same spot.
At least it will not be rusting. It needs someone to rescue it.

It's on Highway 93, on the west side. If you're headed south from Vegas like I was, you can look for that billboard.

I plan on inquiring about the car ,I will look carefully at sheet metal and report back
I would love a sweet front clip for my car just to have

my time is limited on my trip but I plan on doing some parts shopping whenever I can in some remote areas
I will post what I find

they do (dynacorn I believe) make a complete 67 Camaro and 69 mustang shell

From What i remember, Dynacorn got sued by GM.....then they started offering " licensed" bodies... so GM gets a cut. from what I have seen the bodies look pretty darn good.

I plan on it!
at least the fog lights
hard to carry wheels on a rental car and aeroplane and may not have time to fuss with them

I stopped by and looked at it  last Thursday
the car was pretty beat, both front fenders had bondo on lower rears and right lower was pushed in
hood was probably ok on outside but didn't open it for fear of being a target with with a m16
wheels didn't look pitted and were all there looking decent ,but in need of a refinish, looked like a dull nekkid aluminum
fog lights needed new lenses and maybe a rechrome inner reflector
car has been sprayed "bumper chrome" silver ,and pretty crappy at that, inside was pretty beat up with a timing chain box on the front seat
had a big ol racing fuel pump with a reservoir on the inside of right frame real just aft the tire and a big ol class 3 hitch  that was holding the rear of the car up off the ground
there was a pretty noisy large dog in a rather wimpy looking caged area by the run down  mobile home trailer  and an empty parking spot in front
this guy had a lot of junk around for sure

I walked around but didn't see anyone there so I left

Wow, you are much braver than I. That place gave me the creeps and I didn't stay long. I sure as hell wasn't going to knock on that trailer door.

Well, when you've driven through the worst parts of Detroit in your '62 Cadillac stuck in low gear at night, a desert creep is nothing to our man Wayne!
His balls are bigger than the car!
Hope to see you soon bud!

His balls are bigger than the car!
Hope to see you soon bud!

on that night in question, while cruising with top down at 11pm near max velocity (around 10mph with engine singing nice) in a area not only with burnt out churches, but the bricks also stolen off of them, a lone young black guy yell out to us,"hey white boy, what you want"
my buddies got a little bigger and I said to him, I sure hope he doesn't start running towards us cause he's gonna catch us if her does!
we all survived another adventure
