Honestly I am surprised how fast the learning curve is.
This machine is actually easier to sew on then a regular house hold machine.

At one point I ran a 10 inch seam without even touching the material. Hit the reverse lever back over it. then ran again over the top.

Without even guiding the material it ran a straight seam over itself twice.
The motor is a 3/4 horse power belt drive.
I can actually slow it down to easily sew one stitch at a time.
As long as I do not try to sew fast yet, and have good patterns,  these seats should be no problem.

As with painting most of the work is in the prep.  But  for this I would say it is a 60/40 split.

The fear is making a mistake in the middle of an expensive piece of fabric.  I estimate 10 yard of the pleated fabric to do the seats and doors. The fabric currently cost $159 a yard so $1600 just for the fabric.  I then have to sew all of the 2.5 inch pleats across that fabric without messing up. 5 yards of vinyl at $100 a yard. 20 square feet of leather at $15 a foot puts me to $2400 for just the A surface materials. Thread is $20 a spool per size per color, muslin fabric backing, and various foams you are looking at $3000 in materials for the seats covers. Plus what I have into the springs and powder coating.  Doors and seat back panel add in the pressed board backing.

The carpet and headliner plus extra for sail panels and door bottoms and front seat cover are $2000.

So $5000 in materials.  I hade three quotes from trim shops ranging from $9,000 to $14,000 to do my interior if I provided the material. 

That cost, and the fact that I have an incredible desire to learn, led me to the decision to try to do this myself.
I did not start by buying the material then figure it out. I started by buying the tools and learning how to use them before I buy my actual materials. And in this case the materials cost more then the tools.  I do have a lot of people around me for advice as my company is in the business of vehicle interiors. So that may explain my bravery in tackling this.

While sitting at my desk today I was hit with an irrational fear for my Fleetwoods rear windshield. It is the only piece of glass I cannot buy new. Since I removed it 5 years ago I have never touched it on the shelf it was on. I was to afraid to break it.

Until now I had not even cleaned it. It was still covered in dirt and the glass setting compound.

Well I cleaned it up and looked it over. A few small scratches but it is near perfect. Now I would like to crate it better before it goes back on the shelf. I will be doing some repairs to my barn this year and I want to make sure this is protected

My foam shop was kind enough to custom cut a pile of strips for the seat cover pleats.

No I need to find an appropriate fabric to simulate the seat fabric. Hope fully I can test sewing the pleats in the next week.

Continuing with my test pattern. The muslin and foam is 2.5 inches. The fabric is alternating 1.5 inch strips.

This fabric was the closest to that pattern for the test.
