The Pastry's Twin on Ebay
« on: March 16, 2016, 02:00:42 PM »
Looks like this car has surfaced again, saw it a while back on an internet search.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cadillac-Eldorado-BIARRITZ-CONVERTIBLE-77K-MI-/361511509230?forcerrptr=true&hash=item542bc3dcee:g:yaYAAOSwYlJW545C&item=361511509230

Practically identical to my car, but some obvious errors in the restoration
I don't even see Ostrich grain on the seats or door panels, and the door panels look like shotty work.
And '62 hub caps...dont look right at all on the 61. Non Fleetwood rear mirror too.
And the hood V...yikes!

Does have right side mirror and Eldo horn  though!

Enough picking...glad there's another on the road still.

man that car is U G L Y

who in their right mind would own a car so ugly ;D

it is funny how that when we own one, we can spot a million different things that aren't just quite right by a quick look at a crappy picture

It is a beautiful and rare car regardless of the restoration.  All minor stuff.   Yeah, I was kinda surprised to see the 62 covers on it.
It's not like 61s covers are hard to find.

That door panel redo is pretty bad though.

Fix the hood ornament and that door panel and I'd be proud to show that car.

Oh,  the seller posted that he has a new trunk kit on order.  So I wrote him asking where he is getting a new kit as I was interested in
getting a matching spare tire cover made.  He wrote back with a link to Cadillac King.  Which is a junk yard yes?   From what I saw on their website they don't make or sell new trunk lining kits.

It's unfortunate that the seller is who it is.

Check out his BBB ratings.  He's been talked about quite frequently on the CLC forum.

Awe Wayne, you know the Pastry loves you even after you beat her down, physically and verbally :-)

How true though, we are all experts on our cars now lol

Agreed regarding this seller Dan, no doubt.

Wayne, you gonna have your beast up and running this summer?

Perfect example of you have to know what you are buying.  Because these flippers sure don't
know what they are selling.    I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this guy if I saw the car in person
and saw whatever flaws it had.   Plus got a fair price.   But from what I have seen this guy
(and many other flippers) make a good living charging too much money for these cars to uneducated buyers
that are not car people.

We are fortunate that most of us can spot the incorrect things that can be expensive
to fix.    Or worse, get you laughed off the show field.

Worthy? Awe c'mon...been too long since we had a cruise...the one with Peter was too brief!

The guy is asking $82,500 as his reserve...IF that gets bought at that price, wonder how much mine would bring.
Yikes

Pastry isn't going to anyone else anytime soon :-)

Lets make it happen!

I have yet to see a 1961 Eldorado bring that kind of money.

The closest I've heard of to that money was a 1963 Convertible with 8,000 miles - original down to the belts, hoses, and tires bring $75,000.  At the RM Auction in Hershey last fall, a 14,000mi unmolested Series 62 Coupe in somewhat better condition than my Fleetwood went in the mid $50k range.

$82,500 will put you into a decent 1959 Convertible that you could show and possibly win with at a National meet.
