Another Steering Wheel Question: Colors
« on: February 28, 2018, 04:32:04 PM »
Does anyone have a list of the original colors the 1962 Cadillac steering wheels were cast in?

I saw a recast wheel for sale on EBay recently, but it looks white. I believe my coupe's wheel was originally cast in more of a cream/tan color.

They were cast in the colors of the dash.

This is my wheel. Dark Blue matches the top of dash.
The green shade does not really match anything.
My lower dash steel painted parts were a metallic green/blue.
But not like the wheel.

Looking at your picture, the dark blue matches and the lighter green on the steering column should be the other color of the steering wheel. The steering wheel casting does fade over time.

Hi Carl,  I am wondering if the dark on your steering wheel and dash is actually dark green.  Your steering wheel looks identical to the one on my car which is dark green (match the dash pad and gear shift/turn signal levers) and light green that matches the painted dash portions.

That is an interesting color combination then.  I have seen dark blue/light blue, but not dark blue/light green.  I think the sun has played havoc on the colors.

No the dark color is blue.
the dark colour looks to have been repainted by the texture
the 3 wheels I have here are all smooth

I am sure that it was not.  It was cast with texture on the dark and smooth on the light.
