« on: March 03, 2018, 05:05:57 PM »
Hi,

Did any of the 50s/ 60s Caddys come out with electric vent windows?

Cheers,
Greg

Cool! Do you have any pics of the motors that operate the vent windows, Clewisiii?

Electric vent windows were standard on Fleetwood Sixty Specials and Eldorados starting in ‘58, and were optional on other models.  The ‘61-‘68 Fleetwoods also had electric rear vent windows. For some reason, electric vents were pretty uncommon on the models that did not have them standard.  Seems like I see  them more frequently on Lincoln’s and Imperials.

According to Ward's Automotive Year Books many options were much more common on Imperials and Lincolns than on Cadillacs (for example A/C) in that years. I assume this is because the persons that generated Imperials's and Lincoln's small share of the luxury market were wealthy die-hard-enthusiasts whereas Cadillacs were bought more often by aspirational middle class people. I think this is a testament of Cadillac's exceptional good image in that era.

Thanks Clewisiii!
How many electrical contacts are there? The electrician was asking if there is two or four.
Also, how hard is it to find these motors. Is anyone reproducing them?

No reproduction are available .There are some rebuilt ,,,mostly used .There are no relays that operate the power windows ,,just the switches.

I have never seen these reproduced. But that is not saying much. There are no relays I know of. I assume with your custom car you will have custom switches. The Fleetwood door switch pack is insane.

The unit grounds through the body. I think two wire but I will check.
