I purchased a pair of "door lock pillar" bumpers from Steele Rubber. (PN 70-0933-71) (OEM# 4686541) Problem is, there are no mounting holes in my door pillars for them and another fellow 1955 owner told me the same thing with his car. The link for these two bumpers is https://www.steelerubber.com/door-lock-bumper-70-0933-71. Anyone out there familiar with these bumpers?....walt...tulsa,ok

If i recall correctly this was a 1956 only part and there was a mid year change to go along with it. Here is a picture of the original one on my car. This is before resto.

And, if I recall corectly, there is a small chromed part on the door which contacts the rubber bumper when the door is closed. This was added to correct a noise when driving on a bumpy road. As I'm not at home for some days, I cannot add a picture.

Only coupes or convertibles had that rubber bumper.

Yes.  I've restored several 55's...coupes, convertibles (62), Eldorados, and a series 62 sedan. The 4 door car did not have those bumpers.  Apparently the shorter doors did not flex as much as the longer coupe and convertible doors.  At least that's my theory.

I don't think that the doors are flexing on the coupes, but the frame and body. That assembly is soft like cheese!
