I had a feeling the sand and buff job I had started could have been better. The car is completely sanded but I stopped buffing after doing the trunk lid. It just didnt seem to have the pop I was expecting. I asked for advice from a friend who has his own body shop.  Turns out I was afraid of using the compound for too long and subsequently wasn't using it long enough. There was still 3000 grit dullness in the clearcoat. Heres what the trunk lid looks like now. Wow. Now I'm off to work on the rest of the car.

That is great news. I as well am making progress on my engine and related components rebuild. Lots of little pitch battles experienced to get the car right. Yours appears to be coming along quite well. Do keep us posted with lots of pictures. Clay/Lexi

Not gonna bore you with one panel at a time, but boy is this going to be good when it's done.

Go ahead and give it a try. We Mid-Century Caddy nuts don't bore that easily. Clay/Lexi

That paint looks incredible.  Out of curiosity did you use two stage, single stage, or lacquer?

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to repaint my 1937 Lasalle here soon and I want it to be as close to factory as possible...but I'm also open to the idea of the two stage paint for the sake of $.
