61CDV, it's a view I never get tired of. Here are a few interesting facts on the drive from our place in Calgary to Radium Hot Springs. We start off on the 165 mile drive at 3,600' then by Banff are up to 4,600' before reaching 4,800' when we turn off HWY 1 and head West on HWY 93, From there we climb up to 5,700' before dropping down to 3,800 as the highway heads south between ranges. We then climb back up to 4,900' as we go over the last range in the Canadian Rockies and head down to Radium nestled into the Columbia Valley at 2,800'. Radium is located in what is called the Rocky Mountain Trench which divides the Rocky Mountains to the East from the Columbia Mountains to the West. The distance as the crow flies is just 90 miles from our place but all the toing and froing in and around mountains really adds to the distance. Even with all the low cloud and mist it was a good drive.
