Locks without keys...
« on: November 26, 2018, 08:40:36 AM »
I am in the strange situation that I have two sets of original keys to my car but no original locks. (The keys were hidden in magnet boxes, but this knowledge was forgotten through the chain of owners. So the original locks were already destroyed when I got the car.)

A friend has told me he can make matching locks out of a number of original locks. Do not ask me how, but I know him as ingenious.

Therefore I search cheap original locks without keys for "parting out".

To my understanding the locks are the same for:

Door: '61-'64 2dr
Glovebox: '61-'62 all except Series 75
Trunk: '62-'64

Please correct if I am wrong.

Thanks!

Russ, what do you have? I do not really need working locks, just a handful for parting out...

@russ austin A single trunk lock is not really what I want. I would be prefer to buy a few more at once or at least a set from a parts cars... shipping cost to Germany are going to get expensive otherwise. Your other '62 items are gone and you are out of '62 at all, right? Do you have a rebuildable steering gear box? This is something else I would need...

@russ austin Sounds good... Do you have a parts number? I do not want a simple fit-in but the the correct-for-'62-unit. How much do these things weight? I could imagine taking two...

All I part out are 63/64 Cadillacs, so they are correct.  I'll check the casting numbers to be sure they match up.  A power steering gearbox weighs 35 pounds, so tqo will be a lot in shipping.

If your committed to paying close to 100.00 or more in shipping, email me at  russ85747@hotmail.com

@moefurd33 Maurice, this is great. I take the set. I have written you an E-mail.

@russ austin Hi Russ, this is quite some weight. I take one for now. At least these things are compact. Please calculate shipping to Austin, TX.
Please check the numbers thorougly, I do not really find an answer in the MPL and I am not entirely certain if my present unit is the right one.

I skip the lock.

But I would take a rebuildable master cylinder, do you have one?
