1962 Cadillac distributor

I know the 390 looks very similar to a small block chevy but I was just wondering if a distributor from a small block chevy will fit in a 390 Cad motor??? Thanks. Dave

It does not fit for sure.
At some point I considered modifying one or the other but did not put enough adrenaline to it as I really do not need a modern distributor to fit a 390.
From the little I remember, the 390 distributor shaft tail could be transplanted into a modern GM HEI distributor; just welding-on-a-lathe requiered for trueness. (not much of a mistery)
Go for it !  Much better a self contained powerful, reliable ignition with no points to take care of.

Leggman,

I rebuild, re-curve & sell electronic ignition conversions.. I've done quite a few 390's with NO problems & NO re-wiring.
