Proof that you can fit a Mid Century Cadillac on a U-haul Trailer.

My 1955 Fleetwood (the "Blue Mistress") all cleaned up and ready for wedding duty!  My daughter Caroline is getting married this Saturday and this is the car we are using.  Here's hoping for mild temperatures (this car doesn't have A/C -- yet!).

2/3 of the paint is the original factory lacquer.  Original chrome.  Original "Dirilyte" gold V's front and back (just polished, not plated). Interior is all original, except for new carpet.

The car really needs full cosmetic restoration.  But this is a good example of what a low-mileage survivor can look with after a lot of effort in cleaning, sanding, polishing, etc.  BTW, when I tried to clean the rear seat with upholstery cleaner (after taking them out to get good access to the stains), the solid blue fabric faded.  It seems that some of the dye in the bolsters came off.  Rats.  So now the bolsters look sort of medium blue, instead of the darker blue that they should be.

The last picture is what the car looked like when I got it.

Congrats Art..!

So if you are the designated driver for both your babies, you may need to take a rain check on the drinks.  ;)

Things did not go smoothly.  The oil pressure sender unit failed on the way from the rehearsal dinner to the hotel.  So the OIL light came on and stayed on.  Not knowing for sure whether the engine was about to blow up or if it was a sender was very stressful.  I abandoned the car at a gas station, borrowed a modern car and drove home that night (90 minutes) to retrieve a spare sender.  Came back the next morning and installed the replacement sender.  All was fine after that and the car performed flawlessly at the wedding itself.  But the pucker factor was high for half a day or so...
